We made some changes to the way our Provisions site looks and functions.
When we started Provisions during the first complete closure of the pandemic, we took advantage of a free platform being offered by the company affiliated with our payment processing system. That was way back in March of 2020 (….crazy it’s been almost 2 years). That platform was pretty decent but we had to find a work around for the fact that we were doing our own ‘No Touch’ deliveries and only on specific days. It was really designed to utilize third party shippers like FedEx or DoorDash. We made the default Shipping option work for us by having the purchaser use the modifiers to tell us what delivery day they wanted but only for the coming week really or specific dates for special menus. There were some bumps occasionally and we appreciate that you communicated them to us so we could resolve issues quickly.
Here are the changes we made over the holiday break that you’ll notice the next time you visit Provisions:
· LOCAL DELIVERY: You will now be asked to enter your delivery address as soon as you add your first item to your cart. We deliver to Vancouver, West & North Vancouver, and Burnaby only through this site. The system uses a radius to determine your eligibility and we tested tons of addresses on the edges of these communities so if you have an issue with the system saying you’re not in the zone, please let us know. It uses an intuitive address finder provided by Canada Post so you must fill in the unit or apartment number in the next field. You only have to do this once on your first visit. *If you live in another area and are hoping for a delivery, drop us a line at info@ and we may be able to do it for an additional delivery fee.
· SELECT YOUR DELIVERY DATE: You will now see weeks of available delivery dates to choose from. Deliveries will continue to be in the afternoons. If you need a more specific time or a morning delivery, write your request in the Order Notes field and we’ll follow up with you to let you know if we can do it.
· SPECIAL EVENT MENUS: Pre-ordering for special dinners like Valentine’s Day or Christmas don’t work well with the Local Delivery set up. These menus items remain set up as Shipping so that we can customize the delivery days and times to be different than our regular schedule. You will use the drop-down box to select out of the possible delivery options. Because of this, any regular Provisions items you may want delivered with your Special Menu can’t be on the same order and will have to be ordered separately.
· ADD US TO YOUR HOME SCREEN: After your transaction is complete the Order Confirmation page will give you the option to add the Bon Vivant Provisions site icon to your mobile device. The next time you want to order, this icon will automatically take you to our website. Hooray!
· REVIEWS: The email asking if you’ll review your purchases is auto-generated based on the transaction date, not your delivery day. If you have selected a delivery day more than a week away, you will receive this email before you’ve received your delivery. We really want your feedback so this is a flaw we have to accept for Special Event Menus like Valentines and Christmas.
· PAYPAL: This payment method isn’t available for our Local Delivery items. This is a system parameter we can’t change.
