chef nik lim legacy scholarship

the chef nik lim legacy scholarship

A bright light on Vancouver’s culinary scene, Chef Nik Lim passed away suddenly in July 2019 at the age of 35. He was our very good friend, colleague, and business partner. It has been a profound loss for his parents, for us, and so many people whose lives he touched.

Nik loved mentoring both young chefs and floor staff, and his generosity and professionalism made a deep impression on his many friends and colleagues. We have established a scholarship in his name as a legacy that we hope will live on for many years. It will be managed by the exceptional folks at the BC Hospitality Foundation. With this, Nik will indirectly continue be a mentor in the future – something we know would have made him very happy!

You can donate to the scholarship online HERE, or to avoid bank fees you can mail a cheque to:

Quotes about Nik from friends and colleagues:

You are one of very few individuals that I truly believe helped shape me to be the man that I am today. I want you to know that that you will forever be with me and you will have your signature on all that I accomplish moving forward.

You have been a kind, good friend & a mentor to so many young chefs. Your sense of humour, dry wit and playful attitude always entertained….’Rosé All Day’ was the theme in spirit, but in actuality you were one of the hardest working Chefs I know! We made a great team, catering in remote locations, back to back to back events, and your laid back, laissez faire approach said it all…I never expected to say good bye…far too soon! I am still numb and in shock that you will not be here….Rest in peace my friend!
